Known for its healing waters and jagged mountain peaks, Pagosa Springs is the perfect basecamp for adventures and relaxation.

Just north of the New Mexico border sits a quaint town that doesn’t get hit with as many tourists as, say, Aspen or Breckenridge. Pagosa Springs is small enough to make you feel a thousand miles away from any big city but big enough to provide all the things you’ll need for a stellar vacation.

It’s home to the deepest geothermal hot spring in the world (the Mother Spring) — it’s got the Guinness Book of World Records to back it up. But it’s also home to dozens of incredible restaurants and unique breweries. Not to mention the outdoor adventures to be had. No matter what you do during the day, make sure to heal your muscles in the many hot springs around town.

If you aren’t in the mood to head into town to soak in the natural hot springs, that’s alright. Almost all the cabins on our list have a private hot tub too. Choose from luxurious mountain chalets to rustic cabins to studios tucked into the pines.

You might need to pick your jaw up off the floor when you approach the San Juan Cabin on The Ridge. The driveway skirts along the edge of a cliff right to its doorstep and the views never end. But the views won’t be the only thing you’ll be awed at.

The home looks like it was plucked out of 5th Avenue high rise with its high-class kitchen and modern style throughout. Plus, you don’t have to leave Fido behind on your trip to southwestern Colorado if you stay here!
