REI Co-Op Rewards 2024: Here's When Your Member Rewards Arrive

Being an outdoor enthusiast isn’t cheap: mountaineering, backpacking, camping, and hiking all require their own special gear that can easily rack up big bucks. Luckily for REI members, those purchases pay off come springtime.

In case you aren’t a member or need a refresher, you can purchase a lifetime REI Co-Op Membership for a mere $30. This membership includes all kinds of fun benefits like free shipping, rental discounts, access to special events, discounts on REI experiences…and most importantly, REI Co-Op Rewards, which puts money back in your pocket.

After shopping at REI all year, your rewards arrive the following March. Your total rewards will be 10% of your annual spending on qualifying full-priced items. Members with the REI credit card will receive even more rewards.

Longtime REI shoppers will probably remember receiving their annual “dividends” each March. The REI dividend was replaced by the Co-op Member Reward back in 2021, and while the name has changed, the program benefits remain the same.

When do REI Co-op Member Rewards come out?

Co-op Member Rewards were made available in March 2024, and the credit is good for 21 months. The rewards issued in March 2024 will not expire until January 2026.

The rewards you receive in March is based on qualifying purchases made throughout the previous year and you can also earn more dividends with the REI Mastercard. Looking forward, qualifying REI purchases made from January 1 to December 31, 2024, will decide what your Total REI Rewards will be in March 2025.

How can I check my reward balance?

Finding your rewards is simple. As soon as you receive your notice from REI, you can login here. All you need to do is enter your name and account number and it’s payday. If you don’t have your member number, you can also use your name, email, and phone number to look up your reward balance.

REI also mails out a physical rewards card if you prefer not checking online. Just make sure to keep your address up to date with the company.

How can I redeem my REI rewards?

Using your REI annual rewards is pretty straightforward. As soon as you receive notice of your balance, you can start spending. It’s good at any REI retail location, as well as online and by phone. You can claim your rewards in-store by showing your member card (if you still have one), the rewards card sent in the mail, or by having the cashier look up your account.

Can I use my rewards online?

Yep! To redeem your rewards online, simply log in to your account and your rewards balance will show in the top right corner. Your rewards are good at REI.com and the REI Outlet store. You can even book trips through REI’s adventure travel program.

How do I apply my rewards to a purchase?

The easiest way is to log in before you start shopping, then your rewards will automatically be applied. Otherwise, you can log in during the checkout process. At checkout, REI will let you know if your rewards are being applied (the default setting is that they are). If for some reason they’re not, simply click “Apply Total REI Awards” and then it will apply the balance.

What should I buy with my rewards?
